Leadership summit is designed specifically for teens by teens
Calling all high school students! Registration is now open for the third annual Teen Summit RVA on Saturday, March 22, at the Greater Richmond Convention Center, 403 N. 3rd St.
The free, day-long leadership summit planned specifically for youth by youth on the Regional Youth Advisory Council provides a platform to amplify teen voices and create a pathway for positive change in the Richmond region.
“This event is a great networking opportunity — a chance to connect with a bunch of like-minded youth who see issues in their communities and are looking for solutions,” said Jessica Roberts, a senior at Patrick Henry High School. “It’s easy to feel like your voice doesn’t have an impact, but when you walk into the summit, you’ll realize all these students are like you. Their voices have impact, and so does yours.”
The summit will center on the theme of “OUR VISION,” and give students the opportunity to participate in creative activities, gain leadership experiences, connect with peers, and explore job opportunities that align with their unique goals.
The sessions, led by experts in their fields, will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. They include interactive experiences and thought-provoking conversations that will provide students with a safe space to address topics such as becoming an entrepreneur, the impact of culture to the use of AI, college and career exploration, and more while highlighting the positive power of community resources and support. Additionally, teens will have the opportunity to connect with employers and community resources at the InspireYouth@Work Opportunity Fair.
"This day was made just for teens by teens,” said Joseph Carter, a sophomore at Matoaca High School. “Everyone on the Regional Youth Advisory Council has worked tirelessly to pick popular topics for this event. It will change your life!"
In addition to free food throughout the day, there will be giveaways, including Kings Dominion tickets, gift cards, t-shirts and much more! Students who participate will also receive four hours of community service.
Transportation options to the Convention Center are available and interested students can reach out to their respective localities for more information. Additionally, free parking will be available as well as a designated parent drop-off location.
Teen Summit RVA is presented by Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico counties and the City of Richmond.
